Flooding causes chaos after month’s rain falls in a day in parts of England

Flooding caused travel disruption, closed schools and submerged homes in central and southern England on Monday after more than a month’s worth of rain fell in 24 hours in some areas.

Woburn in Bedfordshire recorded 116mm of rain up to 5am on Monday, with other sites recording close to 100mm.
